PSSI from Zero to Hero

PSSI was established on April 19, 1930 in Yogyakarta with the name of the All Sports Football Association of Indonesia. As a sports organization that was born in the Dutch colonial period, the birth of PSSI has something to do with political efforts to oppose the occupation. If want to further investigate and analyze the moments before, during, and after birth until 5 years after the proclamation of independence on August 17, 1945, it became clear that the PSSI was born dibidani by politically charged, either directly or indirectly, to oppose the occupation with seed strategy the seeds of nationalism in Indonesia chest young men who joined. PSSI was established by a civil engineer named Soeratin Sosrosoegondo. He completed his education at the Higher Technical School in Heckelenburg, Germany, in 1927 and returned to his homeland in 1928. When he returned, Soeratin working on a Dutch building company, Sizten en Lausada, headquartered in Yogyakarta. There he was the only Indonesian who sat parallel to the commissioner of the big construction companies. However, driven by a high spirit of nationalism, he then decided to withdraw from the company. After resigning from Sizten en Lausada, Soeratin more active in the movement. As a young man who likes to play football, he was aware of the interests of the implementation of the decision points that have been agreed in a meeting of the youth of Indonesia on October 28, 1928 (Youth Pledge). Soeratin see football as the best container for the seed of nationalism among the youth as a means to oppose the Dutch. To reach his goal, the Soeratin diligently meeting with football figures in Solo, Yogyakarta and Bandung. Meetings were held with the personal contact secretly to avoid the Dutch police raid (PID). Then, when it met in a small hotel in Jalan Kramat Binnenhof 17, Jakarta, Soeri, chairman VIJ (Voetbalbond Indonesische Jakarta), as well as other officials, dimatangkanlah ideas need to establish a national soccer organization. Furthermore, the maturation of the idea was made back in Bandung, Yogyakarta and Solo are performed with several leaders of national movements, such as Daslam Hadiwasito, Amir Notopratomo, A. Hamid, and Sukarno (not the Bung Karno). Meanwhile, other cities, the ripening is done by personal contact or through courier, as the Soediro who became Chairman of the Association of Young Magelang. Then on April 19, 1930, gathered representatives from VIJ (Sjamsoeddin, RHS student), BIVB - Bandoengsche Indonesische Voetbal Bond (Billy), PSM - Football Association of Mataram Yogyakarta (Daslam Hadiwasito, A. Hamid, and Amir M. Notopratomo), VVB - Solo Vortenlandsche Voetbal Bond (Sukarno), mvb - Madioensche Voetbal Bond (Kartodarmoedjo), IVBM - Indonesische Magelang Voetbal Bond (EA Mangindaan), and SIVB - Soerabajasche Indonesische Voetbal Bond (Pamoedji). Of the meeting, they took the decision to establish the PSSI, stands Persatoean Sports Football Seloeroeh Indonesia. Then changed the name of the PSSI PSSI congress in Solo in 1930 to All Indonesia Football Association as well as setting Ir. Soeratin as its chairperson.
